Returned to Australia Feb 1919. Had trouble with circulation in legs and had left leg amputated from knee down in 1922 and was recognised as TPI. Whilst fighting in France, his father passed away and his brothers applied for probate for will and forgot to mention him. Very disappointed when found out in 1921. Passed away in 1974

The next of kin mentioned was actually the publicans wife of the place he was staying in at outbreak of war. He had been alienated from his family from 1894.
